State of Victoria

Commitment

The Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) scheme will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a total of 30.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) over the period 2016 to 2020 by providing incentives for the uptake of energy efficiency measures. The newly-announced targets, applied annually, are the highest since the scheme began in 2009.

Actions

The Victorian Government has set new targets for its energy efficiency scheme, totalling 30.2 million tonnes of CO2-e to be reduced over the period 2016 to 2020. A large proportion of this target will be achieved through the installation of high efficiency lighting (such as LEDs).

The VEET scheme has already saved around 30 million tonnes of CO2-e since it began in 2009. More than 20 million high efficiency lamps have been installed in homes, around half of which were LED lamps. In businesses, around 350,000 high efficiency tubes have been installed, which included 260,000 LED tubes.
