The UK Government is contributing to the Global Lighting Challenge through its Salix and REFIT programmes providing finance for cost effective, high efficiency, lighting upgrades in the public sector and through supporting the development of a street lighting toolkit with a goal of assisting local authorities to implement high efficiency street lighting projects.
In addition to this domestic initiative through the UK’s International Climate Fund we are also supporting the market development for and provision of high quality, energy efficient lighting in developing countries, especially Africa.
